A bit about me

The first part of my story started with my own experience of one to one counselling when I was in my early twenties. The relief I felt after just a few sessions was palpable; I’d been listened to without judgement or bias and those thoughts in my head that were all consuming had quietened down.

Whilst volunteering for the Samaritans I was fascinated in the relational process and keen to know more about what it meant to be heard and how relationship could support the healing process.

It was after making the decision to step away from a very fast paced and demanding profession that I decided to explore a career where I could support others like I had been supported.

Having originally trained in traditional Psychotherapeutic Counselling (talking therapy) at Birmingham Newman University, I have more recently completed training to become an Integrative Embodied therapist with the Institute of Embodied Psychotherapy.

This part of my journey has been hugely influenced by my own personal experience with certain diagnoses (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Endometriosis and Adenomyosis), living with Chronic pain, and the sense of disembodiment that all of this bought me. Experiencing Embodied Therapy myself and the benefit it has brought me has been life changing. Training has also opened up new and creative ways to work with clients and has highlighted to me the importance of listening to the wisdom the body holds.
